SCI Applauds Executive Order Directing Review of Gray and Mexican Wolf ESA Listings
Today marks an important step toward restoring science-based wildlife management. SCI applauds the President’s Executive Order directing the Department of the Interior to evaluate whether gray wolves and Mexican wolves should remain listed under the ESA.
Gray wolf populations have exceeded recovery goals for years. Their recovery is one of North America’s greatest conservation success stories, and it’s time to recognize that success.
SCI supports returning management of recovered wolf populations to the states, which have the expertise and proven track record to ensure long-term conservation while balancing the needs of wildlife, hunters, ranchers, and rural communities.
It’s time to restore wildlife management driven by science, recovery data, and conservation success—not litigation.
