Educating the Youth

Chapter President Bob Newland had the opportunity today to visit Mrs. Stone’s 1st grade class at Greenwich Township Elementary School.

Each year, Mrs. Stone studies caribou with her class during the month of December as part of lessons connected to Santa and his reindeer. Bob brought in a real caribou mount for the children to explore and spoke with them about the tundra, caribou habitat, and their way of life.

While some students shared stories about their families hunting, for many this was their first exposure to hunting and wildlife conservation. Educating and engaging youth is essential, as they are the future of our sport and our conservation heritage, and it is important to take every opportunity to share positive information about the outdoors.
